Obituary of Stephen D. Ford

Stephen D. Ford, age 60, of Shelton passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the beloved husband of Robbin Wyatt Ford. Born in Cambridge, MA, on January 26, 1956, he was the son of Mary Hubbard Ford of Monroe and the late Daniel G. Ford. Stephen was a lifelong aviator, having served proudly in the U.S. Army and obtaining his Master's Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL. He was the Superintendent of Operations at Sikorsky Memorial Airport, with over 25 years of dedicated service. Stephen served as President on the Board of Directors of Blackhorse 4 Heroes, Inc. An avid wiffle ball fanatic and intense supporter of the New York Jets, New York Yankees and New York Rangers sports programs, he also played football while in high school and learned to ski while serving in the Army in Germany. He was also very proud to have been able to speak fluent German, which he had learned while serving there in the Army. In addition to his wife Robbin of 23 years and mother Mary, other survivors include his sister, Diane Bodnar and her husband Donald of Shelton, his aunts, Shirley Vinesett of Chester, VA and Mae Hubbard of Covington, VA, his nieces and nephews, Nick Bodnar of Seymour, Kelly Bodnar and her fiancée Marwan Khoury of Hamden, Jessica Bursell and her husband Matt of Woodbury and their children Hailey and Benjamin, and Ryan Wyatt and his wife Jodi of Oxford. Steve will also be dearly missed by his devoted beagle, Ruby and his two cats, Billy and Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Huntington. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
