Obituary of Joseph M. Tatroe

Joseph Tatroe Sr., age 95, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Florence L. Solemene Tatroe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Wayland MA, on November 12, 1920, he was a son of the late Arnold and Lillian Belle Tatroe. As a child along with his brother James, he and Joe were raised by the late William and Gertrude Haller. A proud and decorated U.S. Army veteran, Joe was in the 83rd Infantry Division and received several medals and awards. A carpenter by trade, he was a member of the Regional Council of Carpenters Local 210 and recently was honored as a 70 year member. But above all he was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cared for and loved his family. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Survivors include four loving children, Joann Bagley and her husband William of Milford, Robert M. Tatroe and his wife Karen of Chandler, AZ, Joseph Tatroe Jr. and his wife Jayne of Ansonia and James Tatroe and Linda Silk of Norwalk, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a brother, Chuck Haller and a sister, Bobbie-Jean McLaughlin. He was predeceased by brothers, Arnold and James Tatroe and Marty Haller and three sisters, Lillian and Marion Cotaling and Gertrude Haller. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
