Obituary of Dora Osiro Etafo-Etsekhume

Celebrating the Blessed Life of Dora Osiro Etafo-Etsekhume Dora Osiro Etafo-Etsekhume, born on January 14, 1957 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria to Pa. Anthony Gimo Etafo and Theresa Mary O. Etafo, died peacefully on August 3, 2011 at St. Vincents Medical Center. Among many, she was a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend whom through generosity, aspired to give as it reflected her genuine character. The compelling demeanor she displayed not only changed others lives but also enhanced the devotion with her loved ones. Under the watchful eye of her parents, she attended Christ The King Primary School and Our Lady of Apostles, Maryway Grammar School in Odo-Ona, Ibadan. On completion of the WASCE, she gained admission into the University of St. Thomas, Manila, Philippines where she earned her BSc Degree in pharmacy. Between 1984 and 1985, she served under the NYSC scheme at Central Hospital Benin City, Edo State. Later she worked with the Merry Land Pharmaceutical Company in Benin City. In 1991, she joined the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja as a pharmacist briefly before proceeding to The United States of America where she practiced at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Dora was a great socialite and good mixer who believed in the golden rule do unto others what you want them to do unto you. She was very humble and unassuming, would rather be hurt than to hurt any person. She believed in the peaceful co-existence, which she practiced till her dying day. She is survived by the following: Mrs. Theresa Etafo - mother Mr. Lucky Etsekhume -husband Mr. Joseph Iluore - son Master Steven Etsekhume - son Master Anthony Etsekhume - son Mr. Stephen Etafo - brother Mrs. Jane-Mary Uffior - sister Mrs. Stella Edekhu - sister Mrs. Susan Akande - sister Mr. Albert Etafo - brother Mrs. Anthonia Okwuosa - sister Funeral Information Funeral Services will take place on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
