Obituary of Filomena Rose DiCosmo

Resident of Shelton Filomena Rose Soares DiCosmo, age 83, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven. Born in Bridgeport on July 25, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas Vincent and Theresa Bilardo Soares. Ms. DiCosmo was a nurses aide at Bridgeport Hospital for 17 years before her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Josephs Church of Shelton and a former member of the Rosary Group. She had a passion for sewing and enjoyed making wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She was a loving mother and grandmother and thoroughly enjoyed being with her family and friends and was always willing to lend anyone a hand. Filomena will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was an exemplary human being and a woman of great service. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Gianninoto and her husband Louis of Shelton, two sons, Patrick DiCosmo and his wife Gail of Ghent, NY and Floyd DiCosmo of Shelton, five grandchildren, Bryan and Stephen Gianninoto, Amy Hull and her husband Joshua, Laura Gianninoto and Patrick R. DiCosmo, brothers and sisters, Nicholas Soares and his wife Viola of Easton, Margaret Minotti of Bridgeport, Joseph Soares and his wife Maureen of Bridgeport and Genevieve Spata and her husband Victor of Stratford, brother-in-law, Dr. Bruno Dicosmo and his wife Mary of New Canaan, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Virginia Soares and Maria Pavone Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peters Cemetery, Derby. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
