Obituary of Maria Da Silva

Maria Xavier Carneiro Da Silva, age 82 of Shelton, the devoted wife of the late Joao Batista DaSilva, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 with her loving family by her side. Mrs. DaSilva was born in Montalegre, Portugal on April 8, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Inocencio and Libania Carneiro. Mrs. DaSilva immigrated from Portugal to Bridgeport in 1966 with her family and residing in Shelton for the last fourteen years before her long-term care at Hewitt Health Care in Shelton three years ago. Before her illness, she frequented Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Bridgeport with her family. She was employed as a machine operator at Acme United Corporation for 35 years before her retirement in 1995. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her late husband, her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren especially around the holidays when she would enjoy cooking and baking for us all. She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy Pires (Alberto) of Seymour, Louisa Alves (Antonio) of Shelton, Elaine Roben (Julio) of Shelton, Gina Malheiro (Lidio) of Trumbull, her cherished grandchildren, Susan Campana (James), Paul Pires, Melissa Vaz (Luis), Shawn Roben (Eileen), Brenden Roben and Jacqueline Malheiro, her great grandchildren, Brianna, Anthony, Ethan , Jayden, Alex, Julia and Luis Jr., her sister Albertina Carneiro of Portugal, her sisters-in-law, Palmira Goncalves, Josefina Fonseca, Deolinda Dias (Manuel), Maria Amaro, Albertina Rua, and Amelia Carneiro and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Antonio and Jose Carneiro, her beloved mother-in-law, Virginia Rua, her sister-in-law, Ana Silva and brothers-in-law, Jose Rua, Joao Goncalves, Norberto Fonseca, and Alberto Amaro. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hewitt Health Care in Shelton who treated our mom with such wonderful care these last three years. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
