Obituary of Charles W. Cockayne

Charles W. Cockayne, Jr., age 87 of Trumbull, beloved husband of Rose Micinilio Cockayne, a retired employee of General Electric Co. for over 42 years, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. Born in Bridgeport on December 9, 1924, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Reubena Coon Cockayne, Sr. Charles was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by two devoted daughters, Suzanne Cockayne, and Alice McLaine and her husband Jim, all of Trumbull; loving grandchildren, Dana L. McLaine and Jimmy Picard of Trumbull, and Charles E. McLaine of Derby; two cherished great-grandchildren, Aidan J. McLaine and Morgan J. Picard. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Snyder of SC as well as several nieces and nephews in CT and FL. Charles was pre-deceased by his sister, June Alice Cockayne Marceau and brothers, Edmund and Munson Cockayne. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers Alettia Ramsay and Alfonso Calle as well as Dr. Madelyn DeRosa and the staff at Masonicare and the staff of 3 south harbor of VAMC, West Haven. Funeral Information A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. Trumbull. Inurnment with military honors will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 4-7 p.m.in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
