Obituary of Philomena Cassidy

October 19, 2012 Retired from the Bridgeport Police Department Philomena Cassidy, age 54 of Naugatuck passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 19, 2012. Born in Bridgeport she retired from the Bridgeport Police Department after serving with distinction. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Sacred Heart University with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. She was a former employee of the Waterbury Republican-American Newspaper She was also a member of the Police Benevolent Association of Broward County, Police Association of CT, Fraternal Order of Police, Loyal Order of Moose, UFCW Local 919 and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her loving parents retired Bridgeport Police Officer Stephen P. Cassidy, Jr. and Patricia Kling Cassidy, also by her beloved grandfather retired Bridgeport Police Officer Stephen P. Cassidy, Sr. Survivors include her beloved grandmother Philomena Petitte Cassidy of Monroe, CT, her four loving children Megan Lawrie and her husband Erec of Milford, CT, Melissa Lula of Naugatuck, CT, Melinda Lula of Milford, CT, Marissa Lula of San Antonio, TX, and their father Thomas Lula of Milford, her grandchildren, Nina Javier and Abigail and Vanessa Lawrie, a brother, Stephen P. Cassidy III of California, four sisters, Debra Cassidy of Shelton, CT, Janine Mangan and her husband Michael Mangan of Corpus Christi, TX, and Jonna Cassidy and Annie Cassidy of Melbourne, FL, her Uncle Robert Cassidy and his wife Mary Jane of Monroe, NC, numerous other aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was also predeceased by her maternal grandparents George and Ann Kling, Aunt Loretta Walser and her husband Carl. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 9:30 am from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 am in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
