Obituary of Fred G. Caserta

Fred G. Caserta, age 70, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Janice Paladino Caserta, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 in St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on November 17, 1942, he was a son of the late Fred J. and Josephine DeRosa Caserta, and was a U.S. Army veteran. A resident of Trumbull for over 40 years, Mr. Caserta graduated from the Connecticut School of Electronics, Housatonic College and Sacred Heart University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. He retired as a Global Service Manager with AT&T and had over 40 years of service and earned their Eagle Achievement Award. He was a former Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 33. After his retirement, he became a volunteer for 15 years for Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County. He was proud to have received their 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award. Fred enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, Sunday dinners with family and building and fixing things in his workshop with his grandsons. He will always be remembered as the Go To guy and the family caretaker.

In addition to Janice, his wife of 46 years, survivors include a son, Fred R. Caserta and his wife Dawn of Stratford, a daughter, Carolyn Caserta of Cincinnati, OH, two grandsons, Leo and Mason Caserta, his brother, Kenneth Caserta and his wife Donna of Stratford, his brother-in-law, Anthony Paladino and his wife Joy of Milford, cousins, Richard and Gert Cimino, Gary and Janice Caserta and Robert Caserta, all of Stratford as well as several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Gus Portuondo and his wife Donna of Milford. 

Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County ReStore, 1785 Stratford Ave., Stratford, CT 06615.
