Obituary of Richard W. Carey

Richard W. Carey, age 62, of Stratford, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 8, 2013. He was born in Bridgeport on March 13, 1950 to Maria Micinilio Carey of Stratford and the late William F. Carey. Richard graduated from Kolbe High School, attended Housatonic Community College and graduated with honors from the Connecticut Business Institute. He worked for the Stratford Parks Department, Connecticut National Bank, Alexanders Department Store, Pitney Bowes and was a volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Bank. He was an usher and communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Stratford. Richard was an avid reader and belonged to the Milford Library Reading Club. He also participated in the Mike Riccio Sports Show, winning many prizes having total recall of scores, etc. He was also a member of the Hall of Famers. Richard enjoyed watching sports and old time movies and especially going on drives with his devoted sister Linda. Many thanks to the staff at Bridgeport Hospital for their kindness and compassion and to neighbors, Susan and George Goodwin who were there in our hour of need. Survivors include his loving sister, Linda Carey of Stratford, special aunt, Rose Cockayne of Trumbull and cousins, Susan Cockayne and Alice McLain, uncle, Rudolf Micinilio of Stratford, aunt Dolores Micinilio of Bridgeport and many other cousins. He was pre-deceased by Aunt, Serafina Casagrande Barniski, uncles, Reno, Michael, William and James Micinilio and Charles Cockayne. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:45 a.m. until the time of service.
