Obituary of Joseph R. Caliguri

Joseph R. Caliguri, age 86, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Louise Andreucci Caliguri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on July 6, 1925, he was a son of the late Anthony and Marietta Giannone Caligiuri and was a graduate of Warren Harding High School. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was stationed aboard the USS Hornet which was received the Presidential Unit Citation for their heroism displayed by her crew in action against the enemy. He was a retired employee for the U.S. Postal Service, serving the Town of Stratford for over 30 years. Joe was a member of the VFW Stratford, the Hornet Club and he was also a past president of the CT Chapter of the National Hemophilia Association. He was predeceased by a son Mark Caliguri. Survivors include a son, Anthony Caliguri and his wife Nora of Cheshire, three grandchildren, Nora Pagel and her husband Todd of Metuchen NJ, Mark Caliguri of Brooklyn NY and Audrey Caliguri of Bronxville NY, a brother Peter Caligiure and his wife Mona of Trumbull, two sisters, Marion Pace of Trumbull and Angie Galante of Bowie MD, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
