Obituary of Bernice A. Buckmir

Resident of Stratford Bernice A. Bray Buckmir, age 82, of Stratford, beloved wife of Joseph Buckmir, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Born in Bridgeport on February 4, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Edythe Gomberg Bray. Mrs. Buckmir attended Harding High School and was later employed by the Connecticut Post where she enjoyed working in the classified department for 15 years before her retirement in 1993. A devout Catholic, Bernice was a past president of the Marion Guild of St. Charles Church, lector, reading aid at the school and volunteer for numerous church related activities. After moving to Stratford, she continued her volunteer work at St. Mark Church. She was a compassionate friend and was always there for those in need. She loved to bake and was renowned for her apple pie, coffee cake and cheesecake. In addition to Joseph, her adoring husband of 61 years, survivors include her devoted son, Wayne Bray Buckmir and his wife Karen of Orange, her loving daughter, Wendy Buckmir Kovacs and her husband Richard of Stratford, four grandsons, Wayne Jr. and Trent Buckmir, and Dylan and Evan Kovacs; four sisters, Joan Johnston and her husband Robert of Bridgeport, Shirley Weeks of Ansonia, Betty DOstilio and her husband Frank of Stratford and Jane Ruskin of NY; beloved sisters-in-law, Rose Murphy of Bridgeport and Anne Carlson of FL; as well as several cherished nieces and nephews and very close friends, especially Jan Scaglia of Orange. She now joins her dear, devoted friend, Janet Kraynick who passed away four years ago. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
