Obituary of Florence A. Williamson

Florence A. Chasse Kiely (Chickie) Williamson of Shelton, CT, entered the heavenly gates on Sunday, February 24, 2013. Florence, born in Bridgeport, CT on December 20 1937, is the daughter of the late Armand Joseph and Dorothy Holmes Chasse. Florence is predeceased by her two husbands, William K. Kiely Sr., who passed on August 13, 1966 and Art Williamson, who passed on April 25, 2004. Florence graduated from Bassick High School as well as Bridgeport Hospitals School of Nursing where she began her career as a Registered Nurse. She also attended University of Bridgeport and Sacred Heart University. After serving as an RN for both Bridgeport and Park City Hospitals, she became a Public Health Nurse for the City of Bridgeport. She retired after 25 years. Florence was an active member of Bridgeport Hospitals Alumni groups I and II, a member of the Red Hat Group, and she shared hopes and dreams with her Oncology Support Group. Florence attended St Josephs Roman Catholic Church in Shelton. Florence enjoyed reading, camping, playing scrabble with Art, and lunch dates with friends. Most of all she loved being with her family and cuddling with her dog, Dunkin. She is survived by her beloved children, daughter Joann M. Armentano and her husband Mark from Shelton, CT and her son, William K. Kiely, Jr. and his wife Marybeth from Naugatuck, CT, and her two special nephews, Michael Chasse and his family from California and Bobby Chasse and his family from Nevada. Florence is also survived by her grandchildren, Lindsay Smith and her husband Peyton from California; Allison Hofman and her husband Griff from Montana; Lauren Tregger; Billy and Ryan Kiely; her special great-grandchildren, Jameson, Liam, and Ainslee Mae Smith and Harper Kiely Hofman. She is also survived by her very special sister and friend, Sister Agnes Kiely RSM; her brothers, Richard Chasse and his wife Marge, Robert Chasse and his companion, Val DePoala, Jerry Kiely and his wife Kitty, Thomas Kiely, and her sister Evelyn Buchanan. In addition, Florence is survived by a countless number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.The family would like to thank Dr. J. Malefatto and Oncology Associates of Bridgeport and his wonderful staff for the best care given to Florence over the years. In addition, the family would like to recognize the dedicated workers on Tower 7 in Bridgeport Hospital as well as the staff at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Josephs Church, 424 Coram Avenue, Shelton on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
