Obituary of Giovanni Verrelli

Giovanni (John) Verrelli, age 71, of Shelton, beloved husband of Paula Perciballi Verrelli, died on Monday, September 5, 2011 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Torrice, Province of Frosinone, Italy on February 17, 1940, he was a son of the late Sante and Anna Verrelli and a veteran of the Italian Army. He worked as a Union Laborer for Local #665 in Bridgeport for 32 years before retiring. Mr. Verrelli loved his New York Yankees and enjoyed watching games with his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren whom he truly adored. He also found great pleasure working in his garden. He was a lifetime member of the Circolo Sportivo Italian Social Club. In addition to Paula, his wife of 43 years, survivors include two sons, John Verrelli and his wife Marykatherine of Trumbull and Dino Verrelli and his wife Dawn of Beacon Falls, five cherished grandchildren, Juliana, Kathryn, Cole, John William and Luke, three brothers, Frank Verrelli and his wife Maria of Albany, NY, Romeo Verrelli and his wife Maria of Torrice, Italy and Dominic Verrelli and his wife Nunziata of Toronto, Canada, two sisters-in-law, Vincenza Mariani and her husband John of Bridgeport and Maria Gesuale and her husband, Luigi of Ripi, Italy as well as many nieces and nephews in the U. S., Italy and Canada. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and aides at St. Vincents Medical Center, 7th Floor East and the Swim Center and especially Dr. Sandhya Dhanjal and Dr. Wasif Saif. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Margarets Shrine, 2539 Park Ave., Bridgeport on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
