Obituary of Eleanore Van Dyken

Eleanore Stuehring Van Dyken, age 71, of Trumbull, died Thursday, February 17, 2005. A Speech and Language Specialist in the Fairfield School System from 1974 to 1995, she was a graduate of Queens College, New York and Southern Connecticut State University. Mrs. Van Dyken enjoyed traveling, reading, painting, needlework and was an avid crossword puzzle fan. She was a Sunday School teacher and co-leader of Brownie and Cub Scout troops.

She was the devoted wife of 50 years of Alfred Van Dyken, and is also survived by her beloved children, Karen Obuchowski and her husband, Joseph, Lenore Cortina and her husband, Henry and Douglas Van Dyken and his wife, Kathryn, her loving grandchildren, Laura, Daniel, William and James Obuchowski, Anne, Anthony and Matthew Cortina and Jennifer and Stacy Van Dyken. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Corrine Stuehring and nieces, Lynne, Gail, Wendy, Kathryn and Lauren and a nephew, Russell. Mrs. Van Dyken was predeceased by her parents, Erna and Ernst Stuehring of New York and brother, Ernest of Pennsylvania. 

Funeral Services will take place on Monday, February 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull with Rev. Emil Witschy officiating. Entombment will be in the St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Monday morning. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yale-New Haven Childrens Hospital, Office of Development, P. O. Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508, St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the donors favorite charity.
