Obituary of John F. Bracken

U.S. Army Veteran John F. Jack Bracken, age 88, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Connecticut Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Rylander Bracken. Born in Bridgeport, on December 6, 1924, he was a son of the late Michael and Frances Murray Bracken. A US Army Veteran of World War II, Jack later worked as an EMT on the ambulance for the City of Bridgeport before his retirement. Always active and very hardworking, he later worked for Chase Bank of Bridgeport until the age of 85. He was also a member of the CT Yankees Drum and Bugle Corp of Stratford, where he held the position of Captain of the Color Guard. He was also a proud member of the American Legion. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of 49 years, Patricia, other survivors include his sons, John M. Bracken and his wife Gina of Stratford and Michael P. Bracken of Bridgeport, two cherished grandsons, Christopher and Scott Bracken and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Gerrity Rylander of Milford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
