Obituary of John C. Sorrentino

Model "T" John Yesterday, February 6, 2012, our dad, John C. Sorrentino, Sr of Milford, passed away at 94 years old, quietly, with his family at his side. Well known around the Bridgeport area for his expertise on Model T Fords, he earned the nickname of Model T John. He built several and restored some others, but his pride and joy was his 1927 Model T Ford, which he purchased in 1938. On his 93rd birthday he drove his Model T to the Southbury Training School, some 40 miles away, to their annual car show where the people sang happy birthday. Survivors include his sister Lucy and her husband Mike Stoverchy of MA, two sons, John C. Sorrentino, Jr. of Milford, and George and his wife Cyndee Sorrentino of Stratford, three grandsons, John III and his wife Kelli Sorrentino of West Haven, Gregory and his wife Sharon Sorrentino of Wallingford, Anthony and his wife Jennifer Sorrentino of Greer, SC, two granddaughters, Karen Sorrentino of Milford and Vanessa Sorrentino of Stratford and six great grandchildren. In addition to many associates, old car buffs, friends, Mary Ellen Sorrentino of Ocala, FL. He served with U.S. Army during World War II and after being honorable discharged was employed as a heavy duty truck mechanic at International Harvester and American Truck Lease in Fairfield and later as being the go to guy at Serv-Rite Auto in Milford. The best time of his retirement and enjoyment was going to area car shows with his companion of 30 years Emma Cucino and his many friends and ones he didnt know. He always enjoyed sharing a cold drink and one of his famous salami and cheese sandwiches and his beloved Ford T which he always drove to the shows. We were glad to know him and God Bless.
