Obituary of Andrew E. Alexay

U. S. Army Veteran Andrew E. Alexay, age 84, of Bridgeport, loving husband of Paula Genova Alexay, died peacefully on Sunday June 10, 2012 with his family by his side at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Born on April 7, 1928 he was the son of the late Andrew E. Sr. and Susan Mlynar Alexay. A U.S. Army veteran, Andy was a retired detective for the City of Bridgeport Police Department with over 30 years of dedicated service. He was an avid golfer, gardener and animal lover. Andy was a friend of Bill W. for the past 29 years. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Edward Alexay; a sister, Elsie OShea and his brother-in-law, Salvatore Genova. In addition to his loving wife of 28 years, Paula, survivors include three children, Frances Rizzo and her husband Michael of Greenville, SC, Christopher Alexay of Keene, NH, and Andrea Gorman and her husband Richard of Palo Alto CA, and their children Richard and Katherine; brother-in-law, Daniel OShea of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Carol Genova of Georgia; as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. James Church, 2110 Main Street, Stratford on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
