Obituary of Angelina Raffaele

She was a Loving and Caring Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Angelina DeVito Raffaele, age 98, of Bridgeport and formerly of Stamford, beloved wife of the late Ernest Raffaele Sr., died peacefully on Friday February 3, 2012 in St. Vincents Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Stamford on December 3, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Christina DeMott DeVito. She retired from the City of Stamford Assessors Office in 1975. Angelina lived most of her life in Stamford and after the age of 90 moved to Bridgeport to be closer to her family. She belonged to St. Maurice Church prior to attending St. Marks Church in Stratford with her daughter. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Angelina enjoyed playing bingo and cards with the ladies and was an avid sports fan of the N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. Giants and UCONN basketball. Her greatest love however was being with her large family for whatever the occasion might be, she loved her family and her family loved her. Survivors include her devoted children, Judy Lowman DelVecchio of Stratford, Marie Kennedy and her husband William of Litchfield and Ernest J. Raffaele, Jr., and his wife Judith of Bridgeport, 20 cherished grandchildren and 32 adoring great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Geraldine R. Peck, and 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Darien. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
