Obituary of Filomena Melchiorre Quaranta

Filomena Quaranta, age 92, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Guy Quaranta, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Orsaca di Puglia, Italy on May 17, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Domizio and Michelina DiCarlo Melchiorre. Before her retirement she worked in the daycare at the former World Gym and as a cashier at Stop and Shop. Filomena loved to cook for her family and always put the needs of others before her own. Survivors include four sons, Frank Quaranta and his wife Kay of Newington, Dom Quaranta and his wife Carol of Bridgeport, Guy Quaranta Jr. and his wife Faith of KY and Michael Quaranta and his wife Anna of Bridgeport, two brothers, John Melchiorre and his wife Shelly of FL, Domizio Melchiorre of Iowa, seven grandchildren, Guy, Frank, David, Daniel, Floriana, Dina and Monique, eight great grandchildren, Vincent, Vanessa, Joseph, Ashley Breanna, Jacob, Ellianna, Chase and Aiden, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Leo and Rocco Melchiorre. Funeral Information A funeral service will be held directly in Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 498 White Plains Rd., Trumbull on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
