Obituary of Agnes Genevieve Bonavita

Agnes (Jean) Genevieve Novatko Bonavita, age 91, of Bridgeport, loving wife for nearly 45 years of the late Rocco Ugo Bonavita, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at her home, with her family by her side. Born in Shenandoah, PA on January 21, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Laura Marie Karlesky Novatko. Jean worked as an assembler at Sikorsky Aircraft for 28 years before her retirement. A very strong willed, independent woman, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays and at family picnics. She lived life to the fullest and was very active both socially and physically. In addition to being a member of many social organizations, she found great enjoyment in reading and playing bingo. Jean was very health conscious and was exercising all the way up to her illness.

She is survived by her son, Louis Matthew Bonavita and his wife Donna of Bridgeport, her grandchildren, Dena Boccardi and her husband Michael, Lauren Kershaw and her husband Mark, Leah Canale and her husband Peter, and Melissa Pignataro and her husband Umberto, and six great grandchildren. She also leaves a son-in-law, Ralph Annicelli and his wife MaryEllen of Ansonia and a nephew, Bruce Novatko. Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by her daughter, Arlene Marie Annicelli, her grandson, Rocco James Bonavita, two brothers, Victor and Edmund Novatko and two sisters, Irene Novatko and Frances Paugh. 

Friends and family are invited to go directly to St. Joseph Polish National Church, 1300 Stratford Rd., Stratford on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery on the church grounds. Friends may call in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
