Obituary of Manuel Pedreira

Devoted Husband, Father & Grandfather Manuel Pedreira, age 52, of Bridgeport, devoted husband of Maria Helena Lima Pedreira, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at St. Vincent`s Medical Center with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle. Born on November 28, 1959 in Montalegre, Portugal, he was a son of Maria Julia Teixeira Pedreira of Bridgeport and the late Antonio Goncalves Pedreira. At the age of 7, he came to the United States with his family and settled in Bridgeport. He was a retired supervisor for the City of Bridgeport Sanitation Department with 25 years of dedicated service. After his retirement, he spent his time with his wife operating Rosas Florist in Bridgeport. He was a member of the Vasco da Gama Club and an avid Mets fan. He was a loving and caring man who truly enjoyed all the time spent with his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was pre-deceased by two nieces Amanda and Alexsis Escaleira. In addition to his devoted wife of 22 years, Maria and his mother Maria Julia, survivors include three cherished children, Krystle Pedreira, Monique Pedreira and her boyfriend Domingos Pinto, and Peter Pedreira, all of Bridgeport, four adored grandchildren, Tyler, Alex, Alexsis and Arriana; a sister, Palmira Escaleira and her husband Armando of Bridgeport; a brother Antonio Martins Pedreira and his wife Gloria of Lisbon Portugal; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Pilgrimage Mausoleum at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4-8 pm.
