Obituary of Mary A. Bike

Mary Hoydic Bike, age 94, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Alexander J. Bike, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Ludlowe Health Care Center, Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport on August 28, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Barbara Hoydic. An avid sportswoman, she was a member of the world record setting Newfield Duck Pin Bowling Team, and was the first woman to be honored by the Bridgeport Oldtimers Athletic Association. Mary was a retired waitress having worked at the former Maloneys Restaurant and the former Wonder Bar, as well as Whites Diner. In addition to her husband of 71 years, Alexander, survivors include two loving children, a son, David Bike and his wife Judi of North Haven and Marilyn Torre and her husband Frank of West Haven, six cherished grandchildren, Kelly DeFrancesco and her husband Dan, Amy Bike, Corey Bike and his wife Rosalia, Keith Bike, Michael Torre and his wife Amy and Peter Torre and his wife Tina, eight great grandchildren, Maggie, Jack, Keira, Tyler, Alessandro, Madison, Katie and Becky; a brother John Hoydic of Milford, a sister, Beatrice Balakier of Stratford, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Hoydic and three sisters, Margaret Halky, Irene Jurgens and Helen Shevlin. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
