Obituary of Marcel Muth

U. S. Army Veteran Marcel Ernst Muth of Stratford, beloved husband of Barbara Robin Altieri Muth, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012 in Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 21, 1936 in Munich, Germany, the son of the late Anneliese Pentenrieder and Erich Muth. Marcel came to the United States at the age of 15 and graduated from Stratford High School. Marcel served in the United States Army in the 62nd Tank Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas from 1955-1958, followed by a tour in his beloved Germany. During his service, he worked as a medic and translator. Marcel began his music career as a pianist at the age of 7 in Germany and was soon recognized as a child prodigy. He played professionally in many venues throughout New England. In later years, he selflessly volunteered his talent at The Veterans Hospital in West Haven and surrounding nursing homes. He always kept his family entertained at all family functions. In addition to his devoted wife, Marcel is survived by his brother Eric Muth of Milford, and sisters Micheline, Jacqueline, and Janine, all of Germany, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and patient care therapists of the 6th and 9th floors of Norwalk Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
