Obituary of Zenon R. Mocarski

Trumbull Resident Zenon R. Mocarski, Sr., age 82, born July 9, 1930, in the village of Kupiski Stare, Poland, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the son of the late Natalia and Joseph Mocarski. Zenon, loving husband of Natalie Srubinski Mocarski, immigrated to the United States in 1951. An inventor and machinist, he started his business in the basement of his home on Kossuth Street in Bridgeport. The business, Gen-El-Mec, began to grow and became nationally respected. Zenon took great pride in the fact that component parts built by Gen-El-Mec were included in every space flight from the Gemini missions to the space shuttles and the Hubbell Space Telescope. Gen-El-Mec was also responsible for projects with many other companies and universities. Zenon never attended college, but received an honorary degree from the University of Bridgeport. Prior to becoming a U.S. citizen, Zenon grew up in Poland and, along with the family, suffered through the hardships associated with World War II. After adopting the United States as his home, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Signal Core. He met Natalie Srubinski in 1952 and the two were married for over 58 years. Zenon is survived by his wife, his brother Joseph, three children Ronald, Theresa, and Zenon Jr. and five grandchildren. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
