Obituary of Alda Alves Esteves

Alda Alves Esteves, age 91, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Esquiel Esteves, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 26, 1932 in Padroso, Montalegre, Vila Real, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Albertina Seara Alves.

Alda emigrated to the U.S. on May 21, 1966 and settled in Bridgeport. A seamstress by trade, she worked for area tailors and enjoyed making and sewing for her family. She loved cooking and baking for her family and always had room at her table for all. Dedicated to her faith, she was a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church and attended Mass regularly.

Above all things, family was most important to her. Alda was a loving and devoted sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. Although she never had her own children, she treated her nieces and nephews as her own and loved to spend time with them. Alda will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving sister, Delfina Branco of Bridgeport, sisters-in-law, Maria Alves of Bridgeport and Emilia Alves of Georgia, Delfina Alves of Bridgeport and Maria Rita Alves of Portugal her cherished nieces and nephews, Joe Alves (Amy), Maria Healey (Frank), Lee Alves (Laura), Joe Branco (Jo Marie), Eliseu Branco (Lucy) Dani Alves (Carla) and Tony Branco (Dana), as well as several additional nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and family members in Portugal. She was predeceased by her brothers and their wives, Joao Alves and his wife Julia, Jose Alves, Eliseu Alves, a brothers-in-law, Jose Branco, Jose and Manuel Esteves, sister-in-law, Ana Seara and a nephew Manuel Alves.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
