Obituary of Hulya Altan

Hulya (Ipekcioglu) Altan, age 70, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Sarkis Altan. Born in Turkey on May 24, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Efrahim and Horopsima (Tornaci) Ipekcioglu. From a young age, Hulya, enjoyed making beautiful floral arrangements with her mom and sisters. She also enjoyed hosting parties and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was her children and spending time with her daughter. She faced her life-long fear of flying when she boarded an airplane to be with her family in the US. The epitome of her happiness came when her grandson, Caleb, was born. Her smile and laugh were contagious and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her beloved husband Sarkis of 48 years, other survivors include her devoted children, Rafi Altan and his wife Liya and Lusi Stirna and her husband Jesse, her cherished grandson, Caleb Stirna and her sisters, Alina Taner and Silva Altan as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. directly in the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Tpke., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 2610 Nichols Ave., Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tibrevank Alumni Inc. and/or The Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension.
