Obituary of Alexander Leone Torricos

It is with profound love and aching sadness that we celebrate the life and passing of Alexander Leone Torricos.

Alex was a tall, strong young man with a sensitive heart, the sweetest smile, a perpetual tousle of curly, black hair, and gentle, expressive eyes. He possessed wisdom beyond his years and was a giver of the most amazing hugs.

Alex had a thirst for knowledge and understanding and possessed an encyclopedic-like knowledge on an expansive range of topics (especially fishing). He developed a love of nature and all animals at an early age and was an avid fisherman from when he was first able to hold a fishing rod. Alex welcomed the quiet calm and connection that the sea and nature provided. He embraced a good hike, particularly those in the snow when solitude and silence were at their peaceful best.

Alex was a passionate reader and devoured books, especially the classics, and graphic novels, whenever he had a free moment. His affection for classics extended into an interest in classic movies which he regularly enjoyed with his Mom. He loved Japanese anime, and a wide range of musical genres. Also, as an avid gamer, Alex's standing as a video-game master cannot go without mention.

When Alex became interested in a topic, he was all-in. As a foodie, this led him to his interest in cooking and mastering the culinary skills needed to create many of his most loved dishes- which were enjoyed by himself, his friends, and his grateful family! And, of course, he welcomed the opportunity to savor his favorite cup of tea and patisserie.

Alex possessed a quick mind, insightful intellect, and engaged in many lively and thoughtful debates, which he would unfailingly infuse with a healthy dose of good dry humor, wit, and a sassy sparkle in his eye that always managed to keep a friendly balance among participants. Alex was a trained security professional and was pleased to work in a nature-camp setting, and then with an auto auction facility; both allowing him to integrate his interests with his work.

Over the years Alex and his younger sister, Samantha, came to find in each other a best friend. Their relationship as siblings was complex and more turbulent than that of typical brothers and sisters. Yet despite the crucible of circumstances they faced, there evolved a bond forged in deep love, empathy, protectiveness, and a growing insight that comes with time.

Alex also found two life-long buddies in his cousins Ryan and Bryce, an unbreakable loving bond with his Mother, and a deep love for his Grandma Lorraine, who predeceased him and whom he missed dearly.

Born on the autism spectrum, Alex's relationships and many achievements were hard won through his courage and determination, and with the unwavering love, support and dedication of his mother, Laura. Laura dove into the world of mental health, educated herself on all that was available about the mysterious realm of autism, and navigated the complicated network of support services available, so she could best assist her beloved son and family, and ensure there was as much JOY as there were challenges in their lives.

Alex is survived by his ever-devoted Mother Laura Leone, loving Sister Samantha Torricos, caring and loving Father Javier Torricos, devoted aunts, Rhonda Leone and Renee Leone, loving uncles Gary Russo and Richard Kobe, and loving and steadfast cousins, Ryan Russo and Bryce Kobe. Alex was predeceased by his grandparents Lorraine and Louis Leone. We want to also acknowledge Alex's highly cherished pets throughout his lifetime: Little Man, Pepper, Pumpkin, Bob, Oscar, Flower, and countless salt-water fish.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at a memorial gathering that will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull with a Celebration of Alex's life at 6:00 p.m. where everyone will be welcomed to share a memory or story about Alex.
