Obituary of Caterina Caruso

Caterina (Cardamone) Caruso, age 88, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip Caruso. Born in Lamezia Terme, Calabria, Italy on August 27, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Angelina Gallo Cardamone. She loved tending to her large garden, spending time outside, going to the beach, cooking and caring for the many people and animals she loved, and being with her family. She was always positive, had an amazing sense of humor, and made everyone around her smile. She was a strong, proud woman who came to America to build a better life for her family, whom she cherished and gave everything to.

She is survived by her loving sons, Leonardo Caruso and Antonio Caruso, both of Stratford, her daughter-in-law, Janice Caruso of Shelton, her cherished grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Caruso, her sisters Adriana and Maria Cardamone, her brother Teodoro Cardamone, several nieces and nephews in Calbria, Italy, and Boston, her special friend Michele Soviero, and her beloved dog Luna. In addition to her beloved husband Philip, she was predeceased by her sons, Gregory Caruso and Frank "Rock" Caruso, and her three brothers, Francisco, Antonio, and Pasquale Cardamone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Ave., Stratford. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
