Obituary of Jean D. Lalanne

Jean Dominique Lalanne

May 10, 1941 – May 9, 2026

Jean Dominique Lalanne, affectionately known as "Dodo", age 84, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was the beloved husband of Dieuta Pierre Lalanne.

Born in Fond des Blancs, Haiti, on May 10, 1941, Dodo was the son of the late Hyppolite and Emene (Bernadel) Lalanne. A man of many talents and a true "Brasseur" at heart, Dodo was known for his tireless work ethic and resourcefulness. In 1975, he migrated to the United States, driven by a selfless dedication to build a better life and provide greater opportunities for his family.

Central to Dodo’s life was his deep faith. He became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, drawn by the beautiful scriptural promise of a future paradise on earth. He remained devoted to this hope, working for the advancement of Kingdom interests to the best of his ability and sharing his convictions with all he met.

In addition to his devoted wife of over 20 years, Dieuta, and their daughter Doumie Caelle Lalanne, survivors include his loving children: Chantale Lalanne Alexis and her husband Alexis-Joel, Pierre Eddy Lalanne, Claire Heureuse Lalanne Julien, Marie Frantz Lalanne Bernadel and her husband Claude Eddy, Marc Arthur Lalanne and his wife Judinia, and Reginald Lalanne, along with their mother, Paula Lalanne.

He is also survived by his step-sons, Volf Jean and his wife Roussie Honore Jean, and Mike Jean and his wife Niuska Texidor.

His legacy continues through his cherished siblings: Aymond Lalanne and his wife Chrismarthe, Sainte Annie Lalanne Polica, Fernande Lalanne Bernadel and her husband Alberto, Andrea Lalanne and her husband Francois, Hermite Lalanne, and Marie Guerdie Lalanne.

Dodo was the proud grandfather of Jobeenscya, Christian, Nehemie, Christine, Marc, and Matthew Alexis; Alexander Dominique, Elijah Joseph, and Geneva Augustine Lalanne (and their mother, Chantale Lalanne); Keneth Pierre Lalanne (and his mother, Constancia Chaperon); Sebastien, Rachel, and David Julien (and their father Jean Benoit Julien); Ethan Nathanael and Ayden Malachi Lalanne; Niles Eliott Bernadel; Volf Oneste, Eireen, Asher and Malakai Jean; and Mateo Batista.

He also leaves behind several beloved great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a wide, cherished circle of spiritual brothers and sisters.

He was predeceased by his beloved son, Yves Henry Lalanne (Ti dodo), and his dear sisters, Clotilde Nelson and Herminette Bernadel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull CT. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
