Elizabeth Mastroni

Obituary of Elizabeth Mastroni

Elizabeth (Betty) Paul Mastroni, age 100, longtime resident of Monroe, CT passed away peacefully at Mozaic Senior Life on May 8, 2026 with her loving daughter by her side.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on September 30, 1925 to the late William and Sadie (Funaro) Paul, she was the youngest of four siblings.

Having worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide at St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull, CT for 18 years, Betty understood the physical, mental and emotional journey of this career and she cared for her residents with love, compassion and pride as if they were members of her own family.

When she wasn't working, she would often "putz" around the house doing random projects, which came of watching too many episodes of This Old House. You never knew what she was going to take apart or refinish next! Most importantly, and above all else, she loved her family with all her heart and helped to raise her only grandchild. Her family included the many fur babies she had along the way – they will all be so happy to see her again; she missed them all dearly.

While being mainly self-educated, she had a profound wisdom and kept her mind sharp with her passion for reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy, faithfully, every night. She loved music and ALL of the old, classic movies and actors, as well as her famous "cup of tea".

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses; Frank Paul (Angela), Helen Gatto (James) and Jeanne Smith (George), as well as her son-in-law, Doug Fox.

Survivors include her daughter, Diana Fox of Trumbull, daughter Linda Pinto and granddaughter Nicole Pinto of Monroe, with whom she resided, great granddog Lucy (who loved to go see "Grammy" and had her own special visitors pass at Moziac), son-in-law John Pinto of Shelton (who affectionately called her "Queenie"), several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Betty fought a good fight right up until the end, always giving the staff at Moziac hugs and kisses, a good laugh and at times – a run for their money with her stubbornness, strong-will, spunk and wit. A very heartfelt and special thank you to those who helped care for her in her final years; especially Renee, Lourdes, both Marie's, Rohena, Latresha, Taheerah, Michaela, Cylina, Tasha, Diane G, Nancy, Sherry, Jenny and Andrea. We are forever grateful.

Per Betty's wishes, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. To leave an online condolence, visit www.abriola.com
