Obituary of Dennis A. Macura

Dennis A. Macura, age 74, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Laurel Mitchell Macura passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on May 13, 1951, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jeanne Linane Macura.

After graduating from Milford Academy, Dennis earned his bachelor's degree from Sacred Heart University. He began his career with GE Supply Company in Bridgeport and then dedicated over thirty years of service to Electrical Wholesalers. He retired as Vice President of Asset Management.

Dennis was an avid New York Mets and Jets fan and remained faithful to both teams despite their many challenging seasons. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf with friends and spent many weekends boating where he taught his children to water ski, tube and knee board.

He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He could often be found on the sidelines of his grandchildren's sporting events and was their biggest cheerleader.

In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, Laurel, survivors include two loving daughters, Kiersten A. Tommasi and her husband Gregory of Shelton, and Erin E. Byrne of Cheshire, five cherished grandchildren, Mitchell and Brandon Macura and Kayla and Connor Byrne and Brady Tommasi; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Mitchell and his wife Cathy of Florida and Michael Mitchell of Trumbull, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Dennis M. Macura and his brother, Arthur Macura. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His family would like to thank the dedicated doctors and nurses at the MICU at Bridgeport Hospital for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), a charity close to his heart.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Trumbull Congregational Church, 3115 Reservoir Ave., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St John's Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday May 4, 2026 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
