Obituary of Dorothy M. Ballerini

Dorothy M. (Pomerenk) Ballerini, age 99, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Orlando Ballerini. Born in Bridgeport on December 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Olga (Rosnoch) Pemerenk. Dorothy obtained her nursing degree from the College of Nursing in Boston and then held a long career at St. Vincent’s Medical Center that spanned over 25 years as a registered nurse. She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Dorothy’s thirst for knowledge was fulfilled by her love for reading and she also had a knack for solving puzzles. Her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent surrounded by her family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Deborah Ballerini of Monroe, Shay DelMedico and her husband James of Monroe, and Koren Ballerini of Derby, her cherished grandchildren, Heather Fanning and her husband Ryan, Nicole Hackney and her husband Kyle and Anthony DelMedico, her adored great grandchildren, Justin, Olivia and Charlotte Fanning and Jake, Stella and Ace Hackney, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her beloved husband Orlando, she was also predeceased by her brothers and their wives, Harvey and Norma Pomerenk and Raymond and Ann Pomerenk.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport.
