Obituary of Lucy A. Yanosy
Lucy Angelina Caiola Yanosy, age 96, passed away peacefully, at her home, on Friday, April 17, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Harry W. Yanosy. Born in Bridgeport on December 30, 1929, Lucy was a daughter of the late Michael and Fortuna (Caliano) Caiola and was a lifelong city resident.
Lucy graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport.
Lucy worked at General Electric in Bridgeport as both a union steward and machine operator for many years before her retirement.
Lucy and her loving husband Harry were avid and excellent duckpin bowlers at Barnum Lanes in Stratford, CT, competing in countless leagues and winning many tournaments over the years. In one specific tournament, Lucy alongside her grandson Tyler, who was only about eight years old at the time, came in first place! Lucy also enjoyed bowling with her sister Mary in a couple of leagues as well.
Above all else, Lucy always made sure that her family and her faith came first. Being of Roman Catholic faith, she always made sure to attend church each Sunday, and even in recent years where she could not physically attend, she made sure that she would watch televised masses.
Family was a top priority for Lucy; she always made sure everyone was doing well and rarely missed major events in the lives of both her children and grandchildren. She and Harry took frequent road trips to Kentucky to visit her daughter Laura and her family. They also flew to Las Vegas with Harry’s brother, Nick Yanosy, and his wife Jeanette, enjoying many casino trips together.
Lucy and Harry were always present for everyone, especially in times of great need. Without thinking twice, when her grandson Tyler was a child, Lucy and Harry would take turns babysitting with the help of Tyler’s maternal grandparents, Pauline and Earl Geyer. They would happily take on this responsibility sometimes for a period of a few days while Tyler’s mother, Alexis, would be in the hospital facing a sickle cell crisis and his father, Robert, was at work.
Lucy absolutely loved cooking and baking for her family, ensuring everyone was always well fed. A few of her signature dishes included lasagna, stuffed peppers, meatloaf, antipasto, cheesecake, and authentic Italian cookies. The taste, quality and love she put in those recipes was unmatched. Being the true Italian that she was, her final meal consisted of lasagna and meatballs. Lucy truly was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.
Lucy greatly appreciated the phone calls and visits from nieces Michele, Theresa (Terri), Marsha, Terry Yanosy, and Cheryl Yanosy and also the daily calls from her daughter Laura.
Lucy’s good friend, Aida, was a caregiver for both she and Harry over the past couple of decades. Lucy was blessed to have a friend like Aida who was always willing and happy to care for her.
Her son Robert was her primary caregiver – he would remind her that even though it may not have always been easy, it was well worth it, and he’d do it all over again for her. A message he would like to share to her is, “Thank you, Mom, from the bottom of my heart, for ‘Life’ – it was the best thing you could have done for me. Love you always.”
Survivors include a son, Robert Yanosy and a daughter, Laura Reed and three grandchildren, Tyler Yanosy and his wife Nicole, Jerrit and Jessie Reed as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Alexis Geyer (whom she loved very much), four brothers, Tony, John, Joe and Sam Caiola and three sisters, Louise “Gigi” Gulas, Mary Tompkins and Sue Sherwood and a very special niece, Marie McNellis.
