Obituary of Antonio Pires

Antonio Pires, age 95, of Monroe, beloved husband of Maria Fernanda Coelho Pires, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 10, 1931 in Chaves, Portugal. After arriving in the United States, he began a long career in construction working for various companies. He was a member of the Laborers Union for over 30 years. Antonio was a hard-working man who provided nothing but the best for his family. He was very kind, enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was loyal to the care and love of his family. He cherished when the family was together, especially his grandchildren, creating memories to last a lifetime. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Maria, survivors include his two loving children, Maria Lena Pires (Jason) and David Pires (Helena), three cherished grandchildren, Carlos, Mike and Thomas, a brother-in-law, Boaventura Coelho (Lourdes), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Tony Goncalves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
