Obituary of Carmen L. Tragianese

Carmen Tragianese, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Born in Bridgeport on April 11, 1931, he was the beloved son of the late Carmine and Maria (Costanzo) Tragianese and one of nine children. Carmen proudly served his country in the United States Army during the early 1950s, spending time stationed in Germany where he had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. He especially loved Amsterdam, Holland, often speaking about its beauty and his fond memories of the time he spent there.

Carmen was a dedicated and hardworking professional. He built a successful career as a Regional Manager at First National before continuing his service-oriented work as Director of Operations at Sacred Heart University.

Above all, Carmen was a devoted family man. He was the loving father of Rosemary Kiss, Susan Curry and her husband Tom, Carmen Tragianese Jr., Gloria Lukos and her husband Rob, and Denise Harvey and her husband Joe. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.

Carmen is survived by his loving sister, Helene Tragianese of Bridgeport, and his sister-in-law, Rose Traggianese of Shelton, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony Tragianese, Robert Traggianese, and Raphael Traggianese; and his sisters, Mary Rose Grillo, Theresa Soule, Susan Cecchini, and Shirley Kostecki.

A man of deep faith and commitment to his community, Carmen served as an usher at St. Margaret's Shrine for over 30 years, welcoming all with warmth and kindness. He found great happiness in life's simple pleasures—taking day trips to enjoy the foliage, visiting the casino where he was known as quite the high roller, and especially spending time with his family. He created lasting memories through treasured family traditions and annual vacations that will be cherished for generations.

Carmen was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets, loving to attend games and cheer on his favorite teams with passion and loyalty.

Known for his warm spirit, quick smile, and striking blue eyes that seemed to light up every room, Carmen had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. His genuine kindness, sense of humor, and love for life left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Carmen's life was a testament to love, family, and faith. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a truly remarkable man whose presence brought joy to so many.
