Obituary of Gino Marini

Gino Marini, age 88, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Soccorsa De Lilla Marini, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Torrice, Province of Frosinone, Italy, on December 6, 1937, he was a son of the late Domenico and Palmira Fabrizi Marini.

A butcher by trade, Gino immigrated to the U.S. in 1956. He worked as a butcher alongside his brothers as co-owner of Roma Importing in Huntington before his retirement. He always loved a good conversation about his beloved Italian heritage and recounting stories of his childhood. Gino was an avid gardener, loved making homemade wine and could often be found tending to his yard and garden. He enjoyed playing a good game of scopa and bocci with his friends and family.

But above all things, he treasured time spent with family, especially at the holidays. Gino enjoyed having his family together, especially his grandchildren, creating a lifetime of memories. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who was loved by all. The unconditional love he gave and the values he instilled will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was, in the eyes of all who knew him, the kindest man.

In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Soccorsa, survivors include a son Roberto Marini, a daughter, Marisa Mazzeo and her husband Christopher, two adored grandchildren, Michael and Cristina Mazzeo, a brother, Lino Marini and his wife Mafalda, two sisters, Ada Mallone and Lina Colatosti, a sister-in-law, Teresa Marini, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Enrico Marini and two sisters, Vincenzina Ianni and her husband Sebastiano, and Sister Teresa Marini, and brothers-in-law Gino Mallone and Rafael Colatosti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday from 4 – 7 pm in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
