Obituary of John Paul Esteves Sr.

John Paul Esteves Sr., age 60, of Pompano Beach, FL and Seymour, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on August 17, 1965 he was a son of Celeste Rodrigues Esteves and the late Manuel John Esteves.

John was a devoted father, a tireless advocate, and a spirited soul who lived a life defined by love, perseverance, and purpose. Above all else, he cherished his role as a father, offering unwavering support, guidance, and pride to his children, who were the center of his world.

After becoming disabled at 27 years old, John became a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities. He dedicated much of his life to creating opportunities for others, ultimately founding his own company with a mission to empower those often overlooked. His work was not just a profession, but a calling—one that touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on his community. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the love he gave so freely and the lives he uplifted along the way.

Outside of his work, John embraced life with enthusiasm and heart. He loved to travel and found joy in fishing, gardening, jet skiing, and hunting. He was a loyal, lifelong fan of the Yankees, the Cowboys, and Benfica soccer. Known for his adventurous and resilient spirit, he faced every challenge head-on and never lost his determination or heart.

In addition to his beloved mother, Celeste, survivors include his three cherished children, John Paul Esteves Jr., Jessica Staroba and her husband Zachary and Manuel Esteves, a brother, Robert Esteves and his wife Denise, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and numerous friends. He also leaves to cherish his memory, Luis Rentas Sr., and Luis "Coco" Rentas Jr., who John loved and treated as an honorary son and grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Sunday, March 29th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
