Obituary of Ana Mercedes Jusino

Ana Mercedes Torres Jusino, age 73, of Stratford, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 20, 2026. A lifelong educator, proud Puerto Rican, and devoted Red Sox fan, Ana brought warmth and joy everywhere she went. She was the beloved wife of the late Jaime John Jusino Jr. Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico on October 28, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Luis Torres and Ana Elba Caraballo Vargas and was a longtime resident of Stratford.

Ana came to the United States to pursue her master's degree in Education at the University of Illinois, graduating in 1978. Upon completing her studies, she began her long and distinguished career as a professor at Norwalk Community College, where she taught English as a Second Language for more than 40 years. Throughout her tenure, she touched the lives of countless students and formed many cherished friendships with colleagues. She also treasured the bonds she shared with her fellow parishioners at St. Mark's Church, her neighbors who became like family, and her extended circle of friends.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She held close to her heart baking cookies and cupcakes with her grandchildren, traveling with her husband to Puerto Rico, celebrating her 70th birthday in Disney, and enjoying a memorable family trip to Busch Gardens. Ana also embraced the fun in life — she loved wearing her signature leopardprint outfits, going to concerts with friends, and relaxing with her favorite Blue Bloods reruns. Always the life of the party, she adored music, dancing, cooking, and hosting family gatherings. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel like family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend and colleague who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Kaity Jusino, and her partner, Danny; her son, Jaime Jusino, and daughter-in-law, Alisa; her brother, Norman Torres, and his wife, Lymaris; her sister, Nereida LaPorte, and her husband, Tony; her three adored grandchildren, Jordyn, Mila, and Javier; and her grand doggies, Daisy and Indy.

The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
