Obituary of Giovanni Silano
Giovanni Silano, age 84, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Flumeri, province of Avellino, Italy on October 17, 1941, he was a son of the late Angelo and Helen (Lanza) Silano. Giovanni had worked as a butcher, alongside his brothers at various meat markets throughout the Bridgeport community that they owned and operated from the mid 1960's through the late 1980's. They built many friendships along the way. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family. A loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted children, Virginia Silano Marconi and her husband Gregory, Joseph Silano and his wife Helene, and John Silano, their mother, Angela (Parnoff) Silano, his cherished grandchildren, Dawn Marie Riccelli and her husband Michael, Sara Danielle Silano and Jacqueline Theresa Silano, his adored great grandchildren, Jaxton and Tyler Severino, his brothers, Peter Silano and his late wife Marie, Pasquale Silano and his late wife Francine, his sister-in-law, Aurora Silano, loving aunts Rosa Lanza and Jennie Silano.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Giovanni and Celia Silano, a brother, Anthony Silano and his wife Patricia, twin nephew and niece, Anthony and Elaina Silano, nephew, Pasquale Silano Jr., his daughter-in-law, Karen Blade-Tew, his aunts and uncles, Phyllis, Carmela, Rose, Tina and Peter Silano and cousins, John and Michael Carmelingo, Maria Carbone Craig, John Valentino and his mother Rose Valentino.
Special thanks to Virginia and Gregory and his late brother Anthony and his wife Aurora for their kindness and compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull and online condolences may be left by visiting us at www.abriola.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to can be made to Smilow Cancer Center, 5520 Park Avenue, Trumbull, 06611.
