Obituary of Helen Vittorio

Helen Kostopoulos Vittorio, age 96 passed away peacefully on Monday February 2, 2026. She was predeceased by her loving husband Benedetto. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Orania (Pepelas) Kostopoulos. Helen was a life-long Stratford resident and was a graduate of Stratford High School and the University of Bridgeport. She retired from the State of CT Department of Social Services after over 38 years of service. Helen was a member of the Philoptochos Society, Senior Citizens of Holy Trinity Church and the Bible Study at Grace Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Barbara, who was always there for her, cherished nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Ben and parents, Helen was predeceased by her brother Theodore and wife Frances; sister Catherine; brother George and nephew Peter. Helen also had the joy of sharing 14 years with her close friend, Peter Stamos. Helen leaves behind a heartfelt thank you to all his family, who were her second family, as was the entire Vittorio family. And yes, thank you from Helen to her third family, Wilde, Natashia and their children.

The family would also like to thank all the Doctors, nurses and staff at Connecticut Hospice for all the care and compassion they provided to Helen.

The Rite of Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave., Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis, Presbyter officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. directly in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
