Obituary of Robert A. Rapillo
Robert A. "Bob" Rapillo, age 87, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Ludlowe Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Donnelly) Rapillo. Born in Bridgeport on January 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Vitalie) Rapillo. Mr. Rapillo was a proud veteran of the National Guard, having served his country honorably. He later held a long career as an accountant prior to his retirement. Bob was a devout parishioner of St. Theresa's Church, where he built many friendships over the years. He loved spending summers in his garden. He was always eager to show his grandchildren all of the fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and flowers he grew. He also looked forward to his weekly trip to the casino, often accompanied by his late wife, Patricia, his brother, his sister, and his brother-in-law. His greatest enjoyment was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family. Whether it was summers by the pool, watching his son Kevin play drums for Rodney Atkins and attend every show he was able to, or his annual trip to St. Kitts, he cherished the time he got to spend with those close to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving children, Kevin Rapillo and his wife Sandra, Karen Gossman and her husband Jason, his cherished grandchildren Sarah and Emily, his brother Ralph Rapillo and his wife Marianne of Trumbull, his sister Rosemarie Testani and her husband Harry also of Trumbull, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, Patricia, he was also predeceased by his brother, Vincent Rapillo and his wife Marie and his sister-in-law, Evelyn Julianelle.
His family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caring staff at Ludlowe Health and Rehabilitation Center. During his stay, Bob was so appreciative of all of the staff who took care of him. His family is incredibly grateful for their dedication and kindness. The staff always made him smile, even on the toughest days. They would also like to thank Dr. Rob Weinstein, who took extraordinary care of Bob over the years and was so supportive to him and his family during these challenging times.
