Obituary of Brian David Mitchell
Brian David Mitchell, age 79, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Stonebridge of Newtown, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rebecca (Blaze) Mitchell. Born in Bridgeport on May 26, 1946 he was a son of the late Bronis J. and Joan N. (Ketchum) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a graduate of Stratford High School before attending Quinnipiac University and American Cyanamid in Stamford, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He then began a long successful career as a respiratory technician at Norwalk Hospital that lasted over 47 years and built many friendships along the way. He enjoyed skiing in the winters and his summers were enjoyed in the sun and on the beach. Other enjoyments include fishing and following the UConn basketball programs. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted children, Jennifer Mitchell-Estes and her husband Bruce of Shelton and Christopher Mitchell and his wife Maura of Monroe, his cherished grandchildren, Magen Estes and Evalie and Georgia Mitchell, as well as seven nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Rebecca, he was also predeceased by his brother James M. Mitchell.
Friends may greet the family on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 p.m. A springtime burial in Huntington Lawn Cemetery East, Shelton will be held at a later date. For online condolences, please visit us at www.abriola.com.
