Obituary of Sherry G. Nicholson

                                                    ~ In Loving Remembrance ~

Sherry G. Nicholson peacefully passed away on Dec 26, 2025 in Yale University's Smilow Cancer Hospital (New Haven, CT) after an extended, valiant, and courageous battle with endometrial cancer. Sherry was 68 years of age.

Sherry's life was a beautiful blending of a remarkable sense of independence and self-determination along with a keen and generous eye toward serving and assisting others. She was a nurse's nurse in the true sense of the term. For Sherry, nursing was not just a profession, but an outlook with which she looked upon the world. She was always ready to provide a healing touch; her unspoken motto was, "How can I make an impact without anyone knowing." Indeed, her humanity and willingness to help are traits we will surely miss.

At home, she was vigorously active and engaged on many fronts. She had a great talent for gardening, cultivating a grand vegetable garden in her backyard and sharing the abundant bounty with neighbors and friends. While outdoors, she might also be seen up on the roof for maintenance purposes, and, when indoors, repainting an entire room was well within her skill set. In the kitchen, she loved the challenge of trying out new recipes and was an original creator of freshly baked breads, nut butters, and other tasty, wholesome treats.

Sherry lived her life with a sense of poise and dignity. Despite the arduous trials and numerous setbacks of her cancer journey, she rarely ever let on that she was in pain or discomfort – rather, you would have to pry it out of her. Her unflinching perseverance obliterated any inkling of a woe-is-me attitude. Until the very end, she looked to put you at ease and emanated the feeling that there was nothing to worry about. Sherry was universally loved and appreciated by family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors, and she will be sorely missed. May she rest easy in eternal peace.

Sherry is predeceased by her husband, Ron, and survived by her twin sister and brother-in-law, Abbye and Bevin; her brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Theresa; her half-brothers, Andrew and Keith; her Aunt Andrea; her Aunt Ruth; her nephews and nieces, Jesse and his wife Allison, Emily and her partner Brendan, Novella, Andrew and his wife Franzi, and Gloria and her husband Kevin; and, her great nephews, Opal, Ulli, and Atlas.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT with a Memorial Service to be held at 12:30 pm in the funeral home.
