Obituary of Keith J. Hanrahan

Keith J. Hanrahan, born January 17, 1943, in Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on December 8th, 2025, in Shelton, Connecticut. He was the youngest child of Thomas Hanrahan and Mary Cecilia Parker Hanrahan.

Keith grew up in Stamford; he attended St. John's School and graduated from Trinity Catholic High School.  As a young man he worked for the Stamford Museum and Nature Center and was involved in making many of the wooden signs used throughout the grounds.

Keith earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and later an MBA from UConn. He served in the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of Captain and earning a Commendation Medal for meritorious service.  He spent much of his career at Branson Ultrasonics in Danbury.

He raised his family in Trumbull and was active in his children's sports programs and as an AYSO Soccer Coach. He spent his later years in Shelton at Wesley Heights.

Keith approached life with a steady, thoughtful nature. He valued learning, quiet routines, and time spent outdoors, and those simple foundations shaped much of his adult life.

He enjoyed reading, especially history and world affairs, and had a longtime appreciation for contemporary jazz. Keith was also a nature lover who spent many years hiking throughout central Connecticut and completing sections of the Appalachian Trail. During that time, he also enjoyed photography, often capturing the places he explored.

He was an avid sports fan, he followed football, baseball, tennis and was a big fan of UConn Huskies Women's Basketball.

Keith is predeceased by siblings Mary Frances Hanrahan and Thomas Hanrahan.  He is survived by sister Patty Passaro; his former wife Dolores Hanrahan; his three children, Kathleen (Chris), Kevin (Katie) and Kris; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport, CT on January 23rd at 10:30 am.  Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor his memory in a simple way—by reading a good book, listening to music he enjoyed, or taking a moment of reflection.
