Obituary of John Michael Mech

John Michael Mech, age 64, of Seaside Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2025.  Born in Bridgeport on June 15, 1961, he was the eldest son of the late Martha E. Busky Mech and Leonard J. Mech.

John grew up in Bridgeport, graduated from St. Augustine Grammar School and was a member of  Bullard Havens Technical school, Class of 1979.  He was an avid swimmer and belonged to the North End Boys Club swim team. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft as an electrical installer for many years and eventually set off on his own to continue his electrical trade.

John, fondly known to many as “Big Bad John”, was larger than life… too big to define with simple words and taken from us too soon. He made us laugh and enjoyed life to the max!  Good food, music and fast cars were some of his passions. But above all, he loved being on the water where he is now at peace.  

Survivors include his devoted life partner, Carmen, sisters Helen Tronkowski and her partner Stuart Bishop, Lanette Twombly and her husband Don, his brothers, Joseph Mech and his wife Jean, David Mech and dear friend Suzie Canal as well as four nieces and nephews, Sarah, Leandra,, Matthew and Linda and great nieces and nephews, Zachary, Millie, Walter and Warren. His love and memory will be cherished by all.
