Obituary of Edward Kozinn DMD

Edward J. Kozinn, DMD, age 68, of Shelton and a longtime resident of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted and beloved husband of Deborah (Tickey) Kozinn, with whom he shared 27 wonderful years of marriage.

Edward was born on August 5, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Yonkers, New York. He was the cherished son of the late Richard and Phyllis (Hochstaine) Kozinn. Dr. Kozinn was a 1983 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and dedicated more than 40 years to the dental profession. He owned and operated a private practice where he was known for his skill, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his patients.

He was a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association and the Masonic Lodge. Edward was an avid sports memorabilia collector, with a special love for his favorite New York teams, the Mets and the Knicks. He also enjoyed traveling, including the occasional trip to the casino, listening to Beatles music, and—most of all—spending cherished time with his family, which brought him his greatest joy.

Edward will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife Deborah, survivors include his devoted children, Emma Kozinn (fiancé Patrick Hunt), Gina Basil (Brandan), Michael Alterio (Darrin Simmons), and Sara Alterio; his brother Allan Kozinn (Paula); his sister Robin Kozinn; his uncle Jay Hochstaine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. All who knew and loved Edward are welcome to greet the family on Wednesday, January 7 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
