Obituary of Maria de Assuncao Carvalho

Maria de Assuncao Carvalho, age 104, beloved wife of the late Francelino Dos Anjos, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Curalha, Chaves, Portugal on February 2, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Carlos De Carvalho and Ana Afonso. To be closer to her family, Maria immigrated to the United States in 1998, living in Bridgeport before settling in Sandy Hook. She lived a beautiful 104 years rooted in faith, and family. She will be remembered for her joyful laugh, love of joking and crocheting. But above all she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cared deeply for her family and treasured their time together. Maria especially loved when everyone was together creating a lifetime of memories. Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The unconditional love she gave and the values she instilled will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her two loving daughters, Ana Maria Pereira and her husband Jose and Maria Augusta Ventura and her husband Delfim, five cherished grandchildren, Marian Guelakis and her husband Damian, Jacinta Renaldi and her husband Frank, Rui Ventura and his wife Claudia, Catarina Ventura and Jorge Ventura, 10 adored great grandchildren, Liam, Sofia, Anabella, Luke, Ava, Hannah, Noah, Lucia, Emelia and Maria, a brother-in-law, Francisco, sisters-in-law, Teresa and Delfina, as well as many relatives in the U.S. and Portugal.
