Obituary of Maria De Lourdes Afonso

Maria de Lourdes Afonso, 91, of Bridgeport, Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Born in Vila Real, Portugal on September 26, 1934, she was a daughter of the late David Agosto Rodrigues and Ana Joaquina Rodrigues. Along with her family, they immigrated to the United States in September of 1966 living in Mt. Vernon, NY for a year before settling in Bridgeport. She was a retired employee of Ideal Laundry. Maria was a hard-working woman and provided the best for her family. The values she instilled and unconditional love she gave will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her three loving children, Elsa Del Rosario and her husband Antonio, Tina Baio and her husband Armindo and Luis Afonso, seven grandchildren, Luis Afonso Jr., Michele, Armindo and Danny Baio, Carlos and Michael Ramos and David Ramos and his wife Pamela, nine great grandchildren, Philip, Antonio, Maria, Carly, Ethan, Danny, Natalia, Alex and Sofia, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Maria Gloria Afonso and a grandson Raymond Morales. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will be held privately in St Michaels's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
