Obituary of Steven A. Cappella

Steven A. Cappella, age 53, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025 at University of Maryland Medical Center with his loving family at his side. Born in New York, NY on November 13, 1972, he was the son of Sharon Pontillo Cappella and the late Anthony J. Cappella.

His life was focused on family matters, planning and preparing a nightly dinner at the table. He had two hobbies of particular importance- Alex and Gabrielle. During his off parent-duty moments, he enjoyed travel, watching sports, and visiting friends and family. Between treatments this year, feeling better during June through September Steve recertified in scuba, hiked in Alaska, floated on a lake in Vermont, snorkeled in the Caribbean and most importantly attended his first professional wrestling match in Mexico. Even in illness he remained full of life and love for his children and those around him.

Steven graduated from Fairfield Prep and then attended the University of Maine. Afterwards he decided to pursue a career in the food and beverage industry and attended the Culinary Institute of America where he graduated with a bachelor's degree.

In addition to his mother Sharon, survivors include his two loving daughters, Alexandra Cappella and Gabrielle Cappella, a sister, Jennifer Williams and her husband James and two nephews, Anthony "AJ" Williams and Jake Williams.

A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Friends and relatives may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
