Obituary of Joseph M. O'Neill

Joseph M. O'Neill, age, 71 of Shelton, beloved husband of Anna O'Neill, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Waterbury on July 2, 1954, he was a son of the late Frederick and Patricia (Cosgrove) O'Neill and was a longtime resident of Shelton.

Joe had a 45 year career working with O'Neill Enterprises/Fred's Car Wash alongside his brother Fred. During his tenure he worked in all aspects of the operation, he would do whatever was needed of him at any time. He was adored by his coworkers and thought of as hardworking, dedicated and truly caring about everyone. Joe was a history buff, researching and reading on all periods of history. He was an academic. He was a student of history and well versed in many periods of history but his favorite was Irish history and anything Irish. He enjoyed Irish traditions and loved his travel experiences to Ireland. One of his other passions was New York sports, he was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. His greatest joy came from family and friends. He absolutely adored his wife Anna and the pride of their lives their daughter Julia. He was a devoted husband, father and brother and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Anna of 24 years, survivors include his loving daughter, Julia O'Neill, a brother, Fred O'Neill and his wife Jo-Ann, five nieces and nephews, Shannon O'Neill, Alex O'Neill, Collin O'Neill, Michael Radke and Ryan Radke and a brother-in-law, Michael Melnik and his wife Maria. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Radke, an infant sister, Holly O'Neill and a nephew, Cortland Radke.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in care of the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
